Food In Langkawi: Telaga Harbour

I love this location.. What not to love about it? Nice scenery, beautiful luxury boats & plenty of food. This is a nice place to snap some pictures & just relax (after the tiring whole day shopping spree) . The picture below is Tun's 'The Loaf'. I like the selections of bread here, but there's also other food and I've once had a breakfast here. Had a very nice family breakfast and I just love their breads.

Mare Blu Cafe
We chosed to dine here that night. My husband ordered lamb shank, I had salmon and the kids had spaghetti with clams. They were okay, everybody finished their food except the kids. They were so shocked when their food arrived as it was full with clams..

Food In Langkawi: Restoren Pak Hj. Ya Nasi Ayam

The first time my husband told me there's a very delicious chicken rice restaurant here in Pekan Kuah , I was so excited. The first time we went there, they're sold out (around 3pm). The next trip to Langkawi we determined to go there early. We're in luck!

As you can see the restaurant is very simple and more like coffee shop- style.

After the food arrived, I was speechless... Really..! Where's the chili sauce? After 1 spoonful, I was surprised.. It actually tasted delicious.. A very different style of chicken rice, I'd say. You SHOULD try it!!

Food in Langkawi: Hole in The Wall, Sungai Kilim

This floating restaurant is a great stop after a few hours of eagle watching, bat cave exploring & boating activity. To get here, you can go with the tour package at the Sungai Kilim Jetty or if you plan just to hv lunch or dinner at the restaurant, call the number below, & the restaurant will send a boat for you FOC (how great is that). It only take 7 minutes from jetty to the restaurant.

Here, you can select your own fresh seafood & while the chefs are doing their magic, you can kill time by visiting & even feed somec ollections of fish just a few steps away (seriously, you'll be amazed).

The foods are delicious, as it's very fresh and worth a trip.

Hole In The Wall Restaurant & Fish Farm For lunch & dinner reservations : 012-5620015

At the feeding area, you can watch Langkawi's White Bellied Sea Eagles & Brahminy Kite Eagles flying quite at a close range. They're so beautiful (I never actually like bird watching before, so it's a nice experienced for me).

The bat cave is quite interesting as well. It's quite scary though. Before we went there I never thought that I hv to through a cave where'shundreds, or even thousands of bats are hanging all over it (kindda stupid, huh) & the smell... I'm glad I didn't know though, I'd hv had a second thought, & might not even went. So, I'm so proud that I've made it, even if I just stayed in the cave for less than 5 min..

How to go there?
- Need to go to Kg Kilim. Then there's a small road towards the river. You need to ride a boat to the restaurant.. Have FUN!

Food in Langkawi: Buffalo Park

*Buffalo Park Langkawi is located within a panoramic view of Gunung Raya and Gunung Mat Cincang.Surrounded by paddy field, rubber plantation ang tropical rain forest. It takes about 30 minutes travelling by road from Kuah town and 10 minutes from the Langkawi International Airport.* http://buffaloparklangkawi.com/

This is one of a great venue to visit with your family and friends. I sure did enjoy it. The buffalos were so adorable (for me), I just can't stop feeding them.. haha.. quite an experienced. At least now adam & ammar have met a buffalo eye to eye, I'd say.

They're selling various flavoured milk, youghurt, ice cream, mozarella cheese. Suprisingly, the milk, youghurt & ice cream tasted very good. They don't even have that milky smell like cow's milk do.. I did finish two bottles of strawberry flavoured buffalo milk that day, which kindda weird because normally,I can hardly finished one bottle of same flavoured of cow's.

All of the products was made freshly there on the farm, and if you're lucky, you can even watch the process of making the mozarella cheese in the morning. I think it's better to call them to confirm the time.

For Adam & Ammar, of course they love the ice-creams..

How to go there? At the corner of Jalan Nyior Chabang you'll need to enter a small road toward the buffalo Park. Just follow the sign.. You'll reach there..

Food in Kedah: Jetty One, Kuala Kedah

Situated nearly at the end of Kuala Kedah road, is one of the must visit place whenever I get back to Kedah. The Jetty One Restaurant situated at the edge of the Sungai Kedah river. Its among the best Chinese Seafood in town which already been in operation for the last 15 years.

Among the best dishes are “Ikan Bawal Putih Masak Asam Pedas”, “Udang Lipan Masak Cili Kering” & "Sotong Goreng Tepung". The rest of the dish is also recommended but those I mentioned above is a must ordered dishes whenever my family have dinner at the restaurant.

From Kuala Kedah to Jetty One will only take about 5 minutes drive.

The owner is very friendly & already regards us as regular customer. Price wise? I must say it’s quite expensive but I think it’s due to all the dish is freshly made from newly caught fish.
Location : Kuala Kedah, End of the Road
Price : Quite Expensive but worth it.
Nice Thing : Friendly owner makes you feel welcome.
Set Back : Be aware for mosquito bites.

Food In Alor Star: Pekan Rabu

Pekan Rabu is a MUST go venue for my family and I, particularly because of the Bihun Sup Utara served at one of the restaurant, ‘Restoran Bamboo’. Well, even though my husband claimed that I’m the only one in the family whose crazy over the bihun sup, the real fact is both of my sons like it too (yeah, they do!). I really like the bihun sup because it has everything that I want in a soup. It has generous amount of beef, delicious soup, sambal to make it a bit more spicy (which I like), fries shallots, Chinese celery and … caipo (I think people call it lobak asin). It makes the soup tastes PERFECT.

Nowadays, I like to incorporate the ‘caipo’ in my soup, but the ‘caipo’ that I use is a bit different. I found out that there’s two type of ‘caipo’. I like the sweet ‘caipo’. It’s a bit more expensive, but it taste nice. Here is one super easiest dish I like to prepare using the sweet ‘caipo’.

Sweet ‘caipo’ cut into small sizes
Fried ikan bilis (about the same amount as the ‘caipo’)
Onion, sliced
Red & Green fresh chillies, sliced

*Heat the oil in the wok, add the onion. Put in’ caipo ‘and cook for about 3-4 min. Add in the rest of the ingredients and served. Do not add salt or sugar.

There’s another special kuih served here, it’s very popular in Kedah, The Pulut Sambal. My husband really like it. It’s made of glutinous rice (cooked with coconut milk) with the ‘serunding ikan’ and wrapped with banana leaf. My sons love it as well. As for me, well… I like everything that can be eaten…

Direction ? Opposite CIMB Bank big building. Car park there as well.

Food In Kedah : Breakfast in Alor Setar 'Roti Canai'

It might not be fair to tell you this restaurant is have the best ‘roti canai’ in town, but I must admit it since I was young it is the best. The shop is situated in Jalan Sultanah or as local folks known as Jalan Day. The shop existed ages ago since I was young & still among the best restaurant in town famous for its ‘roti canai’ & ‘mee abu’.

Even my wife always looking forward to the simple round ‘roti canai’ every time we get back to Alor Setar. Sometimes I need to go as early as 8.00 am just to order take away breakfast nearly around 10-20 pieces of it. And normally it took nearly 30-45minutes just to get what the order & it was worst during weekend or school holidays.

The ‘roti’ was quite tender in the middle & crispy at the outer side of it. And it taste even better with a combination of curry + ‘kicap’ dipping. If you can see in the picture there’s small presence of black color dipping in the middle of the curry. That’s what makes it taste so tremendously marvelous.

I must say, I just can resist the ‘roti’ & normally I’ll just fill my time ordering the take away meal with a treat for myself of having one in the restaurant complete with a glass of ‘teh tarik’. Well, one thing for sure if you dine in the restaurant the waiting time to get the set will only take less than 5minutes.

Name Restaurant: Restoran Mee Abu

Location: Jalan Sultanah, Alor Setar. (Opposite RM4.00 car wash)

Setback: Waiting time for takeaway.

Where is it? Facing the Jalan Sultanah Road right side the Sultanah Bahiyah School.
