Food in Selangor: Fend Ikan Bakar, Kelana Jaya

This Ikan Bakar was simply finger licking good. A good friend of ours introduced this restaurant one afternoon when we ran out of idea of where to go for lunch in Kelana Jaya.

The restaurant offers variety of ikan bakar (grilled fish), from ikan pari, selar, kembung, keli and many others unidentified type of fish (i'm so bad at naming fish)--> u name it, they got it. They served them with air asam & their signature sambal/chili, steam rice & so many variety of ulam (raw salad).

Other than that, u can ask for chicken soup & crispy fried chicken. I can easily finished one serving of ikan bakar as it was delicious. Sometimes, it it unbelievable how a simple dish can be so mouthwatering & tasty, and makes u crave for more.. ;)

It was easier for us to choose the fish as they grilled them out in the open area.

Located at the corner shop of E-G-01, Jalan SS6/20A, Dataran Glomac,
Pusat Bandar Kelana Jaya (near the Giant Hypermarket)

Food In Langkawi: Restoren Pak Hj. Ya Nasi Ayam

The first time my husband told me there's a very delicious chicken rice restaurant here in Pekan Kuah , I was so excited. The first time we went there, they're sold out (around 3pm). The next trip to Langkawi we determined to go there early. We're in luck!

As you can see the restaurant is very simple and more like coffee shop- style.

After the food arrived, I was speechless... Really..! Where's the chili sauce? After 1 spoonful, I was surprised.. It actually tasted delicious.. A very different style of chicken rice, I'd say. You SHOULD try it!!

How to go there?

Food In Kedah : Kulim ~ Restaurant Pokok Manggis

Last year in July my family together with my parents went for a trip to Southern part of Kedah. The reason being was to get my parents land title for a piece of land in Langkawi. To my surprised, the only place where we can get this document was in Pejabat Tanah Kulim.

So the journey begins early in the morning. Not so morning though due to the fact that the kids woke up late. Anyhow, my parents got what they wanted. Then come the best part of the day which was looking for a place to eat. I decided to stop at a small restaurant which looked very cosy under a big tree. There's a big 'Restoran Pokok Manggis' signboard infront of me, which at te moment i wonder where's the 'Manggis Tree'.

The restaurant was quite full which leave me no choice but to park at the back of it. Oh... Finally it makes sense why the restaurant got the name. There's a big mangoesteen tree at the back & its sure look furtile. Unfortunately there's no fruit on, probably its not yet the season.

We order 4 main dishes which were mixed vege, fried egg, deep fried squid & black paper deer meat. Quite delicious meal especially the black paper deer meat, but its quite spicy & hot for the kids. Probably next time i should ask for different style of cooking.

Its definitely a place for me to drop by some other time.

After that heavy meal my mom asked to drop by a place where this teacher selling turkey (got that adv from mudah.com.my). Eventhough he's doing it parttime in front of his house but i think the $$ he got from selling these birds were even more than his basic salary. He's told me that the chicks were sell for RM 30.00 per bird & the mother was sold at RM 70.

The offer was soo tempting for my mother which end up buying about 20 turkeys to bring back. Well its quite interesting & challenging to bring back the 'turkey' but all were safely reached my parents' 'kebun' at the end of the day...

Food in Brunei - Kuala Belait

The Chicken rice in a restaurant next to KFC in Kuala Belait town is a must try. We went there twice for lunch. The chicken rice is actually taste the same like the one in Malaysia, but the chili sauce that comes with it, is slightly different. They add very thinly slices of lime in the chili sauce. It kindda gives the sauce this nice sweet soury taste. I love to eat my chicken with lots of sauce on it, and they serve the chili sauce quite generously (every table has their own chili sauce, so you can take as much as you want). This is a very simple dish, but after you had it, it lingers in your heart for quite sometimes... hehe..

In this restaurant, they also has Cornbeef fried rice like in Bandar Seri Begawan. Again, my son couldn't resist having another round of his favourite brunei's special...

Where is it ? At the hearth of Kuala Belait on the road of Jalan Pretty.
