Food in Korea: Busan (Sept 2012 Autumn) 1

The View from the inside of Restaurant
Assalamualaikum  & Hello..

First entry after a looong break. I will try to post all pending entries on previous trips. So here we go..

Last Sept (2012), me & my kids (6y.o,4y.o & 5months old) followed my husband to Korea. Never ever thought I will visit this country. Fell in love with the country after 10 days stayed. First stop was Busan or Pusan. Great food! All 3 nights, accompanied by Malaysian's friends, we indulged the colourful & delicious local food.

The first restaurant was close to the hotel (Paradise Hotel, Haeundae Beach) at the Haeundae Market area. We had hamuel pajeon ( seafood pancake), a flour & egg batter pour onto seafood like octopus, mussels & prawns with lots of scallion --> A MUST TRY. Dip in a soya sauce, a simple dish, yet so delicious.  (Upper right 1st pic)

(Left column pic): sweet peanuts, tofu & kimchi (right column pic): hamuel pajeon & hamuel tang

My husband's fav would be the seafood soup (hamuel tang). Simple soup with korean chili paste, seafood (mussels, crabs, prawns & again octopus), seaweed, enoki mushroom and some vegies . It was tasty to eat together with sticky rice & all the side dishes incl kimchi. In korea, they usually drink cold plain water (even in the cold weather) but of course other drinks are available upon request.

Nowadays,  we occasionally go for a Korean dinner in Shah Alam (Gangnam Restaurant).
Thanks to Faisal who introduced us to our first local meal in Busan.

Food in Kuala Lumpur : Sarapan di Kg. Baru, Nasi Lemak + Roti Canai

Nasi Lemak + sambal + telur + kangkung rebus + ikan bilis
Kg. Baru letaknya di tengah-tengah bandaraya Kuala Lumpur. Satu-satunya kampung yg masih wujud di tengah kota. Walaupun begitu, disitulah terdapatnya beberapa kedai & gerai yg cukup menarik utk dikunjung.

Sambal dia memang ‘marvelous’ dicampur dgn ikan bilis, sayur kangkung & telur goreng/ rebus. Kesedapannya terletak pada sambalnya yg pedas + manis.

Kita jugak sebenarnya boleh utk tambah lauk lain tetapi seperti biasa cek selalunya ’keep it simple’ & basic.

Roti Canai empuk & panas

Roti canai pun boleh tahan. Dicampur pulak dgn kuah kari ayam. Selalunya cek akan pilih kaki ayam sebab dagingnya yg lembut. Memang sedap.

Food In Selangor: Marche, The Curve Mutiara Damansara

Smoked Salmon Salad
I love this place! This restaurant really adopts the 'market' concept, the environment & decorations makes you feel invited. Just look at the salmon salad. It tasted as good as it look. The mushroom soup was tasty. It was thick, nicely seasoned and goes nicely with the crunchy croutons.

Mushroom Soup
Sauteed Mushrooms & Fresh Strawberry Juice
My husband ordered the sauteed mushrooms and fresh strawberry juice, they were delicious. Other than that the roasted lamb was yummy too. I had roasted chicken & of course teh tarik (yummmy). The roast too was served with mushroom gravy, but for me the roast was already delicious as it is.

Roasted Lamb with Mushroom  Gravy & Mashed Potato
This was my dessert which I shared with my husband. The cake was quite dry, but with the vanilla sauce, the dessert tasted great!

Apple Upside Down Cake with Vanilla Sauce
They didn't allow any camera at the kitchen/food sections area, so we took a couple of picture from our table. The food area was divided into several stations, so it's easier for the customer to make their choices. At the specific station, you make your order & then you have to hand your order card (you'll get one at the entrance) to the staff to be stamp. Each time you order something, they will stamp your card. At the cashier, they will charge you based on the stamps on the card. The price here for me is affordable & worth every cent.

Food In Pulau Pinang : Penang Pasembur

Memang sedap & kalau waktu nak pilih makanan memang susah. Rasa macam nak ambik semua. Heheh..

Apa-apa pun tempat yg paling ’best’ adalah kat Padang Kota. Belakang Dewan Undangan Negeri Pulau Pinang. Kali ni kami singgah di gerai Hussain Pasembur. Utk mengelakkan pembaziran saya mintak isteri tercinta yg pilih memandangkan kalau saya yg pilih agaknya penuh kot pinggan.

Beginilah hasilnya setelah campuran dibuat.

Tempat : Padang Kota Penang

Makanan Pilihan : Pasembur @ Rojak org selain utara panggil

Tips : Dibuka seawal tengahari. Hujung minggu penuh.
How to go? Near the Penang State of Hall.

Nasi Ayam Gemas namanya tapi jgn silap pulak sebab kedai ni kat Bahau Negeri Sembilan.

Kuah kicap + cili = 'Perfect'
Kami pi dekat pukul 1.30 pm tapi waktu tu Nasi Ayam dah habis. Tetapi nasi baik tuan kedai masak buat kali yg kedua. Bolehlah merasa Nasi Ayam tersebut. Satu set nasi ade 2 ketul ayam (gambar), jadi memang berbaloi sangat la. Setakat ni merupakan nasi ayam paling enak kat Bahau.

Food In Kuala Lumpur: Goucho Grill, Chulan Square

Steer Tenderloin (RM95)
Last week we had dinner at an Argentinian's steak house, Goucho Grill with my SIL & family. As the restaurant is quite far from our house we had to leave early that night. My two boys were so excited when they heard that their cousin, Ezri was joining us for dinner that night.

At Chulan Square, you can either choose a valet parking service or you can easily pay RM3 and park at the back of the building, which we did. The decoration's are very nice, comfortable & inviting. I love their concept of cowboyish but very quite & private dining style. Very suitable for a romantic/quite dining.

I ordered the Steer Tenderloin, which comes  with a soup of the day & salad . I like the soup very much, it was potato mushroom soup & it was tasty. The salad, as I chose &  took them myself, of course was delicious.
Garlic Breads (RM8)
Potato Mushroom Soup
Salad
My tenderloin was tender & ok. I like my husband's La Boca more than mine. I guess it suited my taste more than the tenderloin.

La Boca (RM80)
Ezri's Fish &Chips (RM45)
These were the drinks we had that night. Very suprising, the first drink arrived 20 min after we finished the entree. Guess which drink came last?? Mine! :(

Strawberry M/Shake (RM 18)
Adam's RM15.50 Fresh Orange
My RM10 Coke
Cranberry Juice (RM15)

The boys were so excited over the bull outside the restaurant.

Food In Melaka : Roti John & Air Tebu, Kem Sungai Udang

Roti John Special
Kalau berkunjung ke Sungai Udang disimpang menghala ke Kem Sungai Udang terdapat deretan gerai-gerai makan.Terdapat dua gerai yg memang cek tak boleh missed.
Roti John antara yg terbaik pernah cek rasa. Perh! Bukan apa, memang masuklah dia punya ingredients. Memang kalahlah Roti John pasar Ramadan Shah Alam.

Rotinya pulak empuk  penuh dgn telur. Mayonis tak boleh cakap la. Memang menarik bila makan. Tapi bila dah order Roti John tu kena la pulak order air tebu seberang jalan.

Ayiaq Tebu
Air tebu disini adalah yg tersedap pernah cek rasa. Kira dua-dualah yg terbaik kat sini. Ayiaq dia memang mengancam. Pure air tebu & pakcik yg dok jual tu mmg jaga kualiti.

Selalunya gerai tu bukak sekitar jam 5pm.

Pada peminat Roti John & Air Tebu jangan x cuba...

Lokasi kedai. Dekat Traffic light.

Food in Selangor: Fend Ikan Bakar, Kelana Jaya

This Ikan Bakar was simply finger licking good. A good friend of ours introduced this restaurant one afternoon when we ran out of idea of where to go for lunch in Kelana Jaya.

The restaurant offers variety of ikan bakar (grilled fish), from ikan pari, selar, kembung, keli and many others unidentified type of fish (i'm so bad at naming fish)--> u name it, they got it. They served them with air asam & their signature sambal/chili, steam rice & so many variety of ulam (raw salad).

Other than that, u can ask for chicken soup & crispy fried chicken. I can easily finished one serving of ikan bakar as it was delicious. Sometimes, it it unbelievable how a simple dish can be so mouthwatering & tasty, and makes u crave for more.. ;)

It was easier for us to choose the fish as they grilled them out in the open area.

Located at the corner shop of E-G-01, Jalan SS6/20A, Dataran Glomac,

Food In Selangor: Las Vacas, Kelana Jaya

Doesn't the pic above look so yummy? It was delicious!! The steak was cook medium-well & it came with salad & a slice of garlic bread. I couldn't believed that I finished the steak, as I never really like steak, but yeah, it was beautifully cooked with the right amount of flavour. yum yum.. the steak was price around RM25 per 100g. Mine was around 25og, & it's worth every cent.

Adam's hotdog was huge. He finished half of it & said it was yummy. The jumbo chicken hotdog came with fries & some veggies. I bought a packet of a raw jumbo size chicken sausages (I think about 7 sausages) for RM15+. We had them for breakfast the next day with nasi lemak, it was delicious.

Some of the meat, lamb cuts, sausages, beef strips, etc displayed at the shop.
